This International Women’s Day and every day, we are proud to recognize our inspiring women leaders and allies at JLL.
Who is a female inspiration/role model to you and why?
Both of my grandmothers — they were both very different women, but both lived their lives in a manner which showed that gender was never a barrier to anything they did. Growing up around that allowed me to develop the same belief system and set of values that I hope that I have passed onto my children and displayed to my colleagues.
Why does inclusion matter to you?
I strongly believe everyone has a right to be included and treated as an equal — no one should be defined by other people’s biases, from the people who clean the building to the CEO’s of the organizations that occupy the building — all are human beings, and their roles or jobs do not entitle them to different treatment. If everyone was able to bring it back to a simple basic level, then we may not have such an issue with inclusion/exclusion which typically arises from unconscious bias.
How are you inspiring women to achieve their ambitions at JLL?
Hopefully through ‘walking the talk’, sometimes people can get stuck with talking about issues rather than overcoming them. We all face many different challenges each day and in life and it is how you choose to navigate these that will ultimately determine whether you can achieve your ambition. I hope that my behavior has been helpful to others to observe and has offered them some tips or ideas that they can use in determining their own paths.
