USGBC Recognizes Jones Lang LaSalle with 2009 Leadership Award

Global real estate service firms honored for “Leadership in the Private Sector”

PHOENIX, November 13, 2009 — The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has named Jones Lang LaSalle the recipient of a 2009 Leadership Award, recognizing the firm for its Leadership in the Private Sector.

The award was presented during the recent 2009 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo held in Phoenix, Ariz.  In addition to the company-wide achievement award presented to Jones Lang LaSalle, USGBC presented awards to an individual in the private sector as well as organizations in the public and non-governmental organization (NGO) sectors.

“This year’s recipients are accelerating the green building industry through innovative ideas in tandem with strong leadership,” said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chair, USGBC. “It is their passion, expertise and their tremendous contributions that allow us to move closer toward fulfilling our collective mission of transforming the built environment.”

In presenting the Leadership Award to Jones Lang LaSalle, USGBC noted the firm’s success in harnessing its size and scope to establish sustainability as smart business; its adoption of green building practices throughout its operations; its leadership in promoting green buildings; its accomplishment at creating $95 million in energy savings for clients in 2008; and its commitment to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), as demonstrated by its initiative to hire and train  540 LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs).
